With all the talk about the new Kawasaki H2R and its insane supercharged motor, it seems the bravarians are playing a new bike of their own.
Cycleworld has released some spy shots of what appears to be a new BMW adventure bike based off of the S1000 motor.
It appears that BMW is trying to get the most out of their 4 banger, which originally debuted in the S1000RR superbike in 2009
The motor has since been used in the S1000R, a naked version of the same bike, and in a couple of concept bikes that BMW has released.
The new bike, which may be named the S1000 XR, is poised to compete with the Ducati multistrada, the Suzuki V-strom 100, and all of the other 1L+ adventure bikes, including BMWs own R1200GS.
The GS is far to much of a money maker to be axed, so this is an interesting move by BMW. Could this the beginning of the end of the famous boxer motor? only time will tell.
me? I'm just curious when they are bringing the K1300R back.
All of the pictures are credited to cycle world.

Suddenly, I want this. Though I doubt BMW will ever axe the R1200GS any time soon. That bike is their bread and butter, and I don't see a four-banger ever replacing that glorious boxer.

I agree, that bike MADE BMW. But, why would they make 2 bikes for the same catergory?
Then again, its BMW. I'm waiting for the delivery of my X4 Grad-coupe M-sport 35 D black edition anyday now

Sending this to my dad as I write this. He has a 2003 F650GS and a 2007 R1200RT.
